| Baking Frenzy |
[Dec. 30th, 2008|11:28 am] |
Well I now have an army of cheese straws, based on the Hairy Bakers recipe. A third basic cheese, a third Prosciutto crudo ham and Gorgonzola cheese and the final third Prosciutto crudo ham and Cheddar.
The Rocky Road is in the fridge, but with less Marshmallows than last time and Maltesers rather than broken digestives. And i remembered the icing sugar to dust the top of it.
A small reasonable batch of oatcakes, although i got the mixture wrong and had to keep adding more dry stuff.
And finally the cheat bread mix bread -Parmesan and sun dried tomato. The buns are er just out of the oven and the loaf has gone in so now i can change out of flour covered black clothes. |

| Must not kill people on forums..here be mini rant |

It seems that despite saying it many times to many people a few can't get their heads around the idea that I don't want to purchase a cheap item that is not guaranteed to work with software or rather the software is not guaranteed to work with the gadget, when i have the offer of borrowing one to see if it all works.
There is common sense, caution and wasting money no matter how little.
Also I am trying to clear things out of my house and only have things I actually need, 1 gadget for an error that might not help fix it is not IMHO worth it without trying other options first. Not to mention time spent making purchase is time I could be clearing out my flat or sewing.
Then of course there is the Green side of things, If i don't need it for more than a single one-off job. Do I really need it?
Sure if the borrowed one works, or we forget to test it, i will probably risk buying one, but only then.
Oh and when will people realise that not everyone in a global community is from America!
Thankfully most in community have given useful advice if at times blinkered to other world issues. |

I only mention to senobyte at the weekend that I had seen a big Red London Bus (Routemaster) in the city in the last few months, and that it had made me wonder which city i was in....well it seems there may be an explanation |

| Bruins' Big Adventure |
[Feb. 14th, 2008|08:56 am] |
Well Bruin agreed to come out with me last night after all, he didn't expect it to be a patch on the Boston Bruins, but he thought it would be fun.
The gamers, well tbh mild confusion but acceptance from the non Hockey fans and recognition from the Hockey fans...although one did seem to think Boston is in Canada...
Watching smeared players across the clear barrier was amusing as was watching a ref fall on his backside..something the guy re-setting the goals failed to do despite only wearing trainers!
Meal as a disappointment, the booking was for after 9pm, and we understood the restaurant to be open to 11pm, but when we showed up near 10pm we found they don't open to 11pm on a Wed and were about to close...helpful website... |

| want to dance *stomps feet* |
[Feb. 13th, 2008|02:00 pm] |
Sometimes I am really proud of my sister.
not only did she have the guts to live in another country, but she is now also teaching Scottish Dancing and playing in a Ceilidh band
It all rather makes me want to dance again! If i get rid of my chartership this year, then i think i will start looking at dancing classes or events nearby. I was put off in London from local 'ceilidh' after helping out at a 'lets pretend to me Scottish' dance for 'nobility' *shudders* but it was for a charity event, so i guess there was a reason for it all. I suspect the local Irish pub dances would have been fine, there being enough real Irish pubs near where i lived. But despite me and a colleagues attempts we never made it.
also must decide if i am going to try and get a ticket for John Tams gig in a few weeks
i wonder if my parents could look out for a local dance when i plan to do the big road trip... |

| Should a Bear attend Ice Hockey match? |
[Feb. 13th, 2008|01:26 pm] |
So I am off to see an Ice Hockey match tonight.
But do i take the Biggest Fan of Ice Hockey in Bear-dum or not?
Bruin is a big fan of the Boston Bruins, although they are not playing at the game tonight (which would settle the issue if they were!)
Will roleplay gamers cope with an aged Teddy Bear watching the game? |

"Hi people,
Many of you will have heard about the tragic death of Sophie Lancaster, beaten to death for looking different. If you need reminding then: http://tinyurl.com/2h64kd
If you are heading to the Whitby Goth Weekend this October please take time out to visit the info stall in the Spa foyer where small black ribbon roses will be sold to be worn in her memory, and donations accepted to help pay for a memorial bench and plaque to be installed. This bench is going to be placed near the Royal Hotel, close to the whalebones for those of you that know the town, looking out to sea.
100% of any money raised will be going to the bench fund, since the roses were paid for by a collection last month at InsanitoriuM. Please contact me if you have any questions.
This bench will cost in the region of £1600, but we hope to raise much more than that, and any funds left over will be used in reforestation schemes in the UK to plant trees in her memory.
Please repost this anywhere you think might help, directing people to me through thirteen13 if they need to know more. If you have you own mailing lists then please consider forwarding this.
Thanks for your time
[Collections will be taken at B-Movie in October and at the 80s night in Whitby]" |

| Camden Market Saga |
[Aug. 23rd, 2007|06:31 pm] |
Signed this a while ago and assumed it had already done the rounds.
Couple of points:
This isn't the Lock Market, this is the market on the other side of the railway bridge. Also the Horse Hospital is listed so i assume they aren't allowed to demolish at least that building but i may be wrong, although i think they are looking at moving the traders elsewhere.
I have checked the councils planning applications online, and as far as i can see these changes are all listed as Registered with comments allowed until 29th August.
More info here http://www.savecamdenstablesmarket.co.uk/
SAVE CAMDEN MARKET!! Camden Council have given the go ahead for the wrecking balls to go in and destroy Stables Market in Camden. This means the end of The Proud Galleries (served notice closing in a couple of weeks), the funky, vintage stores, Cyberdog, etc - you get the gist - one of the best things in all of London is about to be taken away from us. What are they putting in it place? Boots, H&M and Topshop. I'm sorry to those who like these stores, but that is just not the place for them. PLEASE help us stop them from doing this by signing the petition:
